COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

making a change for the changemakers

a transforming organization

The Community Foundation for a greater Richmond began as a small public charity in 1968. Today, they are the 13th largest community foundation in the country, managing more than 1,200 charitable funds with assets exceeding $1 billion – and they want to make an even bigger impact in our community. Only a completely revamped, more robust website that could help everyone find their place and path in philanthropy would do. They approached WCG knowing we had the front end and back end digital savvy to assist. Since we believe in giving back with purpose, we were on board from the start.

supporting an evolution

WCG is executing an industry first: integrating profile and fund data from Salesforce (customer relationship management software), Workato (a workflow automation platform), and Foundant (a banking app) into a single website for one seamless connection.

With this custom-built solution that automates manual processes, everyone wins:

· The Community Foundation will have better insight into customer-level data since they’ll immediately know who users are upon log-in.

· The user will save time and energy with a simpler, more secure way to give because we’re digitizing typically paper-based processes courtesy of a single sign-on.

· WCG is expanding our technical footprint and increasing the type of clients we can service in the future by extending our engineering partnerships and knowledge base.

Another cool component of the site is that we will present available scholarships to potential applicants based on their location. It’s an approach that has never been done on any other community foundation website. Currently, the variable data lives in a very complex Excel document. But when we’ve established the best way to query and display the information then integrate it simply into the site, we will be helping more students find access to opportunity.

Our work with the Community Foundation is ongoing and it’s a massive undertaking, but deeply rewarding. We love any opportunity to help make our region a better place to live and to give.
