Moses Foster, President and CEO

A native of Farmville, Virginia, Moses attended Virginia Tech and earned his B.A. in Communication. He began his career as an advertising copywriter at Huntsinger & Jeffer, an advertising and direct marketing firm. While there, Moses wrote campaigns for such clients as Hilton Hotels, SunTrust Bank and the American Red Cross. After leaving the firm, Moses moved to Capital One Financial, where he held several marketing positions, including Creative Director, Internet Communications Director, Director of Brand Management and Senior Director of Creative Development. Using the variety of skills he gained throughout his career, Moses opened his own marketing and advertising agency, West Cary Group, in April 2007. Since that time, Moses has been chosen to serve on the Board of Directors for the Direct Marketing Association, the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce and Venture Richmond. In addition, he serves on the Council of Advisors for Eugene Trani’s Richmond’s Future Committee. With the insights garnered from these leadership positions, he has guided West Cary Group and its clients into an era of communications innovation and growth, garnering such notable clients as McKesson Medical-Surgical, Progressive Insurance, Genworth Financial, Capital One and MeadWestvaco (MWV) along the way. Because of his relentless efforts in marketing and dedication to the Richmond community, he was honored with the 2011 Virginia Minority Supplier Development Council's Entrepreneur of the Year Award. When not improving his business, Moses enjoys calling his younger sister Lolita Foster, a UVa grad, in order to praise the Hokies’ recent string of football wins.

Prashant Agarwal, Director of Marketing (Asia), Dell Small Business

Prashant has been working in the field of Marketing, Sales and Strategy since he was 20—an age when most of us were still wearing Drakkar Noir and hanging out in chat rooms on America Online. In 2000, he found himself catapulted from the villages of India, where he was setting up a distribution system for consumer goods, to the cold climes of Boston. After completing his MBA at Harvard Business School, he decided to work in Richmond, where he met Moses Foster. After convincing Moses to follow his dream of setting up WCG, he was hardly in a position to refuse to help.

With industry experience as broad as Packaged Goods, Financial Services, Insurance, Advertising and Consulting, Prashant is able to help us think through our clients’ assignments from their point of view. After all, he’s been the client since he hit puberty.

George Armwood, Broadcast Production Manager

George is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University in the field of Graphic Art. He provides more than 20 years of experience in his field, beginning in the trenches as a stage technician for the then-up-and-coming rap group DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince. Over the years, he would go on to expand his talents into full broadcast production–including sound engineering and songwriting–while working with such clients as Montana Recording, Capital One and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS). George’s vast arsenal of knowledge proves invaluable in optimizing broadcast production for many of WCG’s most valued clients–and he’s been known to put a hurting on the bass guitar.

Blair Keeley, Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer

Blair received his Fine Art degree from Furman University, which he quickly followed with an education at the Portfolio Center in Atlanta and the Chicago Art Institute film school. This would lead to 20 years of experience in creative development for regional, national and international advertisers. During this time, Blair did hard time on the ad agency side (CHD Atlanta; Cramer-Krasselt, Phoenix; New&Improved, Scottsdale), the client side (Capital One, Saudi ARAMCO) and the entrepreneurial side (Special Teams Sports Marketing, Eggtooth Studios and Keeley Media). Being a dad to seven and a husband to one, no assignment (and trust us when we say “NO assignment”) is too big for Blair. He is a huge sports fan, loves cold weather and is bald by choice (so he says).

Camille Blanchard, Vice President, Account Services

Camille is a graduate of Wake Forest University with a B.S. in Business. She began her career at Wachovia, in Investment Operations. After two years, she moved to Capital One, where she spent seven years in increasingly challenging positions ranging from Senior Project Manager and Senior Relationship Manager to Line of Business Manager. From the moment Camille arrived at WCG, world-class client care has been easy for us. She has helped solidify our company’s foundation and, in two short years, has risen to the rank of Vice President of Account Services. During her tenure, she has managed clients such as Capital One, MeadWestvaco, LandAmerica, Progressive, Network Solutions and many others. With experience on the client and agency sides, Camille’s breadth of skills spans from project and program management in the marketing, operations, data and technology arenas to internal and external relationship and business management. She excels when clients’ marketing and communication needs span interactive, direct marketing and mass media campaigns. Considering her relentless commitment to WCG, it’s hard to imagine she would do anything during her free time but rest. However, she operates and teaches her own dance studio for youth and is an international missionary. Yes, we all feel worthless in her presence.

Andrew Crosby, Graphic Designer

After pursuing an education in photography and studio art, Andy Crosby graduated from The University of Kentucky with a B.A. in Visual Communications. His entrance into the professional world began with a design career in computer graphics. He worked as Art Director for The Blood-Horse magazine and further honed his talents as Team Leader at various companies like DataStream Imaging, Magna Graphics and Courier Printing. He progressed to Vertis Communications, where he was hired to outfit, train and support a retail production department for Galyan’s Sporting Goods. He later relocated to Richmond, VA to manage pre-press work and product photography for now-defunct Circuit City, and then worked as a contractor for Genworth Financial. When he came to WCG to strengthen our Rhythm Department with his experience in graphic design, we were delighted. And when he told us he could trace his lineage back to King Charlemagne, we stared at him blankly until he uncomfortably went back to work.

Tad Czyzewski, Account Director

A native New Englander, Tad traveled to the south to get his B.A. in Historic Preservation at the University of Mary Washington. Soon after graduation, he switched gears and joined Capital One as a Sales and Marketing Specialist, eventually becoming Assistant Vice President of Bank Marketing. There, he focused on new product development for the banking and consumer credit card divisions, launching Capital One's still-popular Rewards Checking. In 2008, Tad left to become an independent marketing consultant, helping non-profit organizations like Chorus America and the Choralis Foundation conduct research and develop their marketing, creative strategies and brand. WCG is lucky to have lured such a versatile marketer back to the agency world. When he's not working for our clients, he's performing in Washington D.C., soothing audiences with his classically trained tenor.

Adrian Daniels, Senior Digital Director

Born in New York, Adrian attended Manhattan College, earning his B.S. in Computer Science. He followed his schooling with positions at VA Medical Center, Prodigy Internet, Viacom and Capital One. While working, Adrian took night classes to receive his M.S. in Mathematics. In his career, he has amassed nearly 20 years of digital experience–including UNIX Systems administration, web development and systems analysis–and is excited to lead West Cary Group's digital team into a new era of growth and advancement. His excitement carries over into the automobile world, where he prides himself on keeping his car in mint condition and has even washed it during a rain storm. Some might call him crazy, but we call him determined.

Steve Dapper, Founder & Chairman, hawkeye | GROUP

Steve has over a quarter-century of marketing and agency experience, including stints as CEO of both Wunderman and Rapp Collins. He founded hawkeye | GROUP to combine a unique blend of specialized communication companies that rely on insight to deliver original and accountable programs to the marketplace.

Rachael Harris-Evans, Vice President, Account Services

Rachael was a fine arts major at VCU with a concentration in painting and printmaking before she earned her marketing stripes at Capital One. There for nine years, Rachael performed in a variety of roles within Brand Marketing, including leading the creative teams responsible for banking, lending and small business credit cards. Next, she moved to Genworth Financial, where she led marketing strategy for their variable annuities business. Her strategic marketing experience, especially in direct channels, is a tremendous asset to WCG, and we are proud to be able to offer it to our clients. In her downtime, Rachael relaxes with husband Luke, daughter Helenor, two cats (Ukko and Tom) and a six-month-old puppy named Rupert. And we agree—Tom did get the short end of the stick in the naming department.

Monica Dodd, Operations Manager

Monica Dodd has the type of organizational talent that others marvel at and openly covet. Serving as Operations Manager and all-around fact-finder at WCG since 2008, she has a knack for knowing where everything is at any given moment. After receiving a B.S. degree from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, she joined Wachovia as an Associate Recruiter/Executive Assistant. Positions as a Recruiting Coordinator at Williams, Roberts, Young, Inc. and Manager in Education and Workforce Development at the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce followed before she arrived at WCG’s doors—and not a moment too soon. Monica’s communications skills foster positive relationships with clients and colleagues alike, and her critical analysis capabilities improve the firm’s effectiveness and productivity each day. When she’s away from WCG she enjoys football, family and friends.

Ali Doyle, Copywriter

Born and bred in New Jersey, Ali graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a B.A. in Journalism. She then entered the world of marketing, lending her writing expertise to communications agencies like Virtual Network Solutions and Athena Marketing Group. She eventually turned to freelance copywriting, advancing such organizations as Century 21, Curves and New York-Presbyterian Hospital by penning progressive SEO web content, blogs and video scripts. Today she brings her expertise in brand-building and forging B2C and B2B marketing campaigns to WCG and our clients. In her down time, she likes to buy unlined notebooks and add to her increasing stock of unused ones. We wish we were joking.

Debra Fitzgerald, Vice President, Creative Manager, WCG Rhythm

Following her graduation from Virginia Commonwealth School of Arts, Debra wasted no time entering the graphic design world and accepted a position as Art Director of The American Historical Foundation. She took the skills she acquired there and began her own freelance design business, in which she excelled for over 15 years. During that time, clients like Capital One, The Martin Agency, Fultz Marketing and Edelmann Scott were quick to call upon her extraordinary talents. Though extremely successful on her own, Debra soon realized (through gentle coaxing from Moses Foster, CEO) that the timing was right for re-entry into the full-time job scene and joined WCG. With her knack for organizing, executing and delivering large projects to valued clients, the firm is thrilled to have such an action-oriented designer helm the WCG Rhythm team. When she gets free time again, she will be happy to let everyone know how she spends it.

Jason Fanning, Digital Director

Jason originally hails from Glastonbury, a suburb of Hartford, CT. Since graduating from the University of Mary Washington with a degree in Computer Science, Jason has spent nearly 15 years in web development and computer programming for companies such as CACI, Capital One and Magellan Medicaid. After gaining experience in the government, financial services and health care sectors, Jason is bringing his deep IT knowledge to advertising. When he isn't coding away at WCG, he can be found working as a volunteer firefighter in Hanover County. In his remaining free time, he enjoys playing as much volleyball as his body can handle and organizing an Ultimate Frisbee group for the Richmond Area.

Lolita Foster, Senior Content Developer

Lolita Foster graduated from the illustrious University of Virginia (WAH-HOO-WAH!) with a degree in English. In the two years she has served as a Copywriter for WCG, she has had the privilege of working on extensive accounts for valued clients such as Avon, Capital One, MWV and Health Management Corporation (HMC), to name only a few. With each opportunity, she has delivered the client’s brand message through carefully devised communications strategies in order to power definitive results for its business. Along the way, she discovered an aptitude for scriptwriting and is using this capability and many others to help WCG deliver on its promise of offering integrated communications for an integrated world as Content Developer for WCG’s digital, interactive and web capabilities team. In her downtime, Lolita acts and has taken up boxing, only to discover it is one of the most world’s most physically demanding and punishing sports.

Scott Garber, Senior Digital Producer

A graduate of James Madison University with double majors in Computer Information Systems and Accounting, Scott has spent more than 15 years sharpening his skills in the tech and digital worlds. Beginning his career as a Business Systems Analyst and Project Manager for a Fortune 500 financial services company, he eventually moved on to the role of Digital Marketing Strategy/Business Startup Consultant before joining WCG. Along the way, he earned his digital and marketing stripes by developing integrated marketing plans for a variety of companies that leveraged email, websites and social media, even managing off-shore development projects in India, Canada, Mexico and Egypt. But the man’s not all business. Scott owns a real buffalo head named Solomon, a relic from his grandfather’s herd. His wife is reluctant to hang it in the house, but he insists it’s a great conversation piece.

Alexis Gayle, Creative Director

Alexis Gayle holds a B.A. in Journalism from University of Richmond and originally hails from Long Island, NY. Before coming to WCG, Alexis worked for 10 years as an Assistant Art Director and Senior Designer. She conceptualized and designed for both the Store Environments and Advertising departments at Circuit City, formerly headquartered in Richmond, VA. Prior to this, she was Art Director and Copy Editor for the international shipping logistics magazine American Shipper, based in Jacksonville, FL. Well versed in the Adobe Creative Suite, she has an undeniable talent to understand client needs and translate them into stunning design. Alexis also has a profound understanding of how customer experience is enhanced through space and is a wizard at retail conceptualization. She enjoys family time with her daughter and husband, playing tennis, and is rumored to have once been able to throw a wicked fast pitch in softball.

Rachal Hansen, Senior Account Mananger

Rachal Hansen joins us from Capital One (where else, right?), where she worked for 11 years. She had a modest start working in Customer Relations, but quickly transitioned into the training and communications worlds before finding her niche in project management, and she spent the last few years at Capital One as a Marketing Manager on the Brand Marketing team. Today she brings her finely honed brand advertising talent and impressive collaborative skills to our firm. A mom to four great kids, she spends most of her free time on a baseball or soccer field, although she’d rather be in Corolla, NC, on the beach! Rachal is excited to find a new extended family in WCG, and we’re excited to have her and to discover that she appreciates sarcasm as much as we do. Kidding. Or are we…?

Christopher Hibben, Graphic Designer

Christopher attended Gerrit Rietveld Academie, an independent Dutch academy of art and design, followed by Virginia Commonwealth University, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts & Design. He then spent 13 years as a design manager and graphics/packaging designer at Pohlig Bros., a Richmond, Virginia, packaging manufacturer that has been in operation for over a century. Christopher has held graphic design positions at VCU Creative Services, 3north Architects, 1717 Design, the Library of Virginia and Genworth Financial. As a freelance designer, he has created marketing collateral for such clients as Art180, Northstar Academy and the Virginia Association of Independent Schools. With over 20 years of experience in his field, Christopher now brings his many talents—logo and brand identity, graphics, interactive forms and dimensional packaging design—to WCG. When not in the office, he rocks out as a member of the Richmond Indigenous Gourd Orchestra. Of course, we use the term “rock out” very loosely.

Cara Hill, Senior Account Manager

Cara was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. She attended Virginia Tech, graduating with a B.S. in Marketing. After college, Cara moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, using her degree to excel as an Assistant Buyer for Belk, Inc. But her heart still lay in Virginia, and she moved back to her hometown, acquiring a position as Marketing Manager at Wachovia soon after. Cara ascended to the role of Senior Marketing Manager before Wachovia relocated, and she opted to leave the company to stay in the Richmond area. WCG is fortunate to have found her, as we consistently rely upon her talent of fostering the type of partnerships that deliver on brand objectives and winning strategies for our respected clients. Avid spelunker, champion body builder and extreme thrill-seeker would all be terms that do not describe Cara. In her downtime, you’d be more apt to find her soaking up some sun at Virginia Beach and reading about people who do these things, and she’s all right with that.

Caribou Honig, Partner, QED Investors

When Caribou starts mouthing off like he knows what he’s talking about, we hit him with, “Yeah, but why are you qualified to speak on the topic?”

We usually lose the argument, however, since the answer is, ’Undergraduate in Physics and Philosophy at Harvard, Darden MBA and UVa Law degree.” That usually means he’s qualified to speak on just about any topic there is…including analytics and business strategy.

In an era where business shifts happen daily and analytics give businesses a much-needed edge, Caribou’s sage advice and uncanny ability to predict future market opportunities help us propel our clients' businesses forward.

Shanta Jasper, Graphic Designer

Though Shanta earned her B.S. in Speech Communication at James Madison University, while studying there she also discovered a unique talent for publication design. She used these newfound skills in her first job as a Public Information Assistant to the City of Richmond Department of Public Utilities. She then moved on to Helig-Meyers as a Copywriter and simultaneously honed her skills as a Graphic Designer. Shanta then landed a job at Capital One, where she became a Senior Graphic Artist and was honored with the “Circle of Excellence” award. While taking graduate courses at George Mason University, she was introduced to interactive media development and web design. She used these design talents to serve clients including Genworth Financial, Verizon and Apex Insurance, among many others. She knows her way around a vast array of programs like InDesign, Quark, Illustrator, Photoshop, Freehand, Acrobat, Flash, Dreamweaver, Director and ProTools Plus. It’s these technical skills that make her an excellent problem solver whenever the unexpected occurs. A mother of two, she is also a vocalist and currently recording a solo project. Oh, and she also moonlights as a bartender. And if there’s anything that you think Shanta can’t do, please tell her that. She’ll be more than happy to prove you wrong.

Nancy Maunder, Graphic Designer

A Richmond native, Nancy Maunder attended VCU, where she earned a B.F.A. in Communications Arts and Design. Upon graduation, she immediately entered the marketing world with a graphic design position at Martin, Remick, Moore and Reed Advertising Agency, and followed that with a stint at Riddick Advertising. With a strong desire to be her own boss, she freelanced for the next 15 years, producing exemplary creative work for such esteemed clients as BCBS, Barber Martin Associates, Huntsinger & Jeffer, Capital One and Genworth Financial. In her spare time, she enjoys photography, furniture refinishing and coffee ice cream with chocolate syrup. She’s often told, “You look just like someone I know,” and we were surprised to realize we had hired her, always assuming she was Susan Stewart pulling extra duty. But we’re fortunate we did, because she brings a unique passion and creativity to her profession and is the perfect complement to the WCG Rhythm team.

Khoa Nguyen, Digital Designer

Khoa attended VCU, and while earning his Communication Arts and Design degree pulled double duty by working as the webmaster for the university’s departments of Gerontology and Health Administration. Positions at Pembroke, Techead and Royall & Company soon followed, during which time he acquired additional expertise in marketing and web design – including corporate rebranding and dynamic website and application creation. His specialties include CSS, XHTML, jQuery, Media Queries, web marketing and 3-D animation, which he calls on to enhance the Digital Team. When he's not busy coding and geeking out about web design, you can find him in the kitchen, training to be the next Top Chef. Khoa’s even created a website dedicated to his culinary work. Garlic-infused pork tenderloin, anyone? Mmmm. We think we will.

Heather Ormond, Account Manager

Heather is a Hanover, Virginia, native and graduate of James Madison University (Go, Dukes!). She started her career at Richmond Magazine as an Advertising Production Coordinator, and then joined the internet world at Salem Web Network as an Advertising Coordinator. There, she quickly transitioned into a Key Account Manager position–a role created for her to provide advanced management of both customer relationships and premier accounts. Brand marketing savvy and goal oriented, Heather enhances the current account team with her dedication and drive. On days off, she can be found at the beach or in the mountains losing badly at board games.

Chris Rayl, Account Director

Chris Rayl was raised on the West Coast in San Bruno, California, and attended San José State University, graduating with a B.A. in Advertising. She began her career working in employee communications and talent engagement at Bernard Hodes Group, where she assisted such clients as Advanced Micro Devices, Boston Scientific and Synopsys. A move to Colorado prompted a new job in the marketing department of Artemis International and a new interest in technology solutions. Chris eventually returned to Hodes, focusing her efforts on the digital field, crafting website, mobile and social media strategies, and developing forward-thinking digital media campaigns for clients like PETCO, Gymboree Play and Music, and Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation. Now she brings her rich talent set to West Cary Group — as well as her offbeat sense of humor. She once covered a co-worker's office floor with paper cups full of water for April Fool's Day. We're dying to see what she has in store for Moses.

John Salazar, Senior Art Director

John was born in Las Vegas, Nevada (Vegas, baby!), grew up in California wine country, attended the University of California and ultimately honed his branding design skills at the Art Center College of Design in Vevey, Switzerland. He brings a stunning portfolio of work in multidisciplinary design, having worked with many of the top design firms in the U.S., Europe, the U.K. and South Africa. During the course of his 20+ year career, he has designed for clients such as Motorola (he helped launch the company’s cell phone in Europe), Unilever, Apple, Bertolli, Adobe Systems, Oracle, Hewlett-Packard, Casio, Canon, Sony, Nestlé, Hasbro Interactive and Walmart, to name just a few. John has garnered numerous accolades, including awards for his design work for the 2010 Winter Olympics, Ola Ice Cream, J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines and NCR. You’d think that with such a full business life he’d have no free time, but while living in Germany, John was drafted to become the head coach and quarterback of the new European League Cavaliers American Football Team. And while in South Africa, he swam with the dolphins and lived in a thatched-roof home. Yeah, we know – we’re jealous, too.

Nick Schimick, Senior Account Director

Nick is a native of the Midwest and a graduate of Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, with a B.A. in Political Science. He got his feet wet in marketing at Polk Company, supporting the direct mail needs of catalog customers. Fast-forward 14 years, and he was the director of Marketing at McKesson Medical-Surgical, where he was responsible for the marketing and sales support efforts of a Fortune 15 company. He excels in direct response marketing, market research and customer loyalty, and lends that expertise to WCG. When he’s not tending to our clients, he’s tending his backyard garden, planting vegetables like kale, broccoli and cabbage. You don’t have to say it – we know he’s a wild man.

Erin Snow, Administrative Assistant

Hailing from South Carolina, Erin attended Columbia International University, where she earned a degree in Elementary Education. She soon turned to the insurance and financial services field, specializing in client services. We quickly recognized her superb organizational skills and keen eye for detail (maybe a holdover from her teaching training) and snatched her up to become an asset to the agency. When Erin's not keeping us organized, she's studying to be a jewelry designer. So if you get a WCG bracelet as a birthday gift, you know whom to thank.

Susan Stewart, Copy Editor

Susan Stewart brings almost two decades of work experience to the WCG team. Once graduating from the University of Richmond with a degree in Journalism and Theatre, she worked as Editor for the National Captioning Institute. There, she developed closed captions for the hearing impaired for various morning news shows, talk shows and daytime dramas. Following this position, she worked for 13 years as a Technical Editor for Capital One in the Creative Production and Brand groups. WCG has benefited from her proofing skills in the past, but is excited to announce her full-time hire at the beginning of 2010. Susan particularly enjoys analyzing varied clients’ businesses and brands in order to make content recommendations that are aligned with their strategies and brand identities. In her spare time, she participates in voiceover work—mastering the ever-elusive skill of actually generating a salary as an actor.

Elizabeth Sundberg, Project Manager

Born in Richmond, Elizabeth Sandburg earned her BA in Political Science and History at VCU while her family repeatedly asked her, “What can you do with that?” She showed them after she graduated, spending the next 12 years working in marketing communications, product marketing and strategic business development roles for Paladin Tools, a global hand tool manufacturer. She successfully led the company’s entrance into big box retail sales, managed three separate brands under the corporate umbrella and was responsible for another rebranding project of her own, for the company’s collateral, packaging and websites to have a more cohesive look and brand definition. She now brings that solutions-oriented mindset to WCG. When she’s away from the agency, she enjoys the outdoors (preferably near water), and you can often find her trekking along the James River on the Buttermilk Trail.

Wendy Thacker, Associate Art Director

A native Richmonder, Wendy Thacker attended Virginia Tech, where she studied Interior Design. Once out of school, she immediately began her career at Circuit City, where she worked as a Production Assistant. Twelve years later, she had advanced to the role of Assistant Art Director for the company’s Creative Advertising Department at its corporate headquarters. When Circuit City closed its doors, Wendy took some time to become a wife and mom, all the while continuing to hone her advertising design and branding talents as a freelance graphic designer for valued clients like Free Agents Marketing and Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods. WCG was lucky enough to persuade her to resume a full-time gig at our agency. In her free time, she loves to make home repairs like refinishing cabinets, so the way we figure it, we got two employees for the price of one.

Chase Thompson, Senior Creative Director and Copy Chief

When Chase joined WCG in December 2009, she brought with her a wealth of copywriting and leadership experience, as well as marketing and business savvy. After earning a degree in Mass Communications from the University of South Carolina and completing a post-grad stint at the Portfolio Center in Atlanta, she put in time at ad agencies in Atlanta and Richmond. In 2002, she followed her heart and pocketbook to corporate America. She rose to VP, Corporate Communications, of a Fortune 500 company and established a robust internal communications program for its 15,000 employees. From there, Chase expanded her role and served as VP of Brand Resources. Away from the office, this Southerner reads far too many books and is occasionally forced to throw a bad one across the room.
